When preparing for what to wear for your family shoot, there are lots of things to consider. What colors look good on your skin tones? What color is your background going to be (foresty greens or the sandy tans and grays of the beach or the city)? Solid clothing with various texture and nice necklines often photograph best. To get you thinking about having complimentary and not MATCHING clothes as a family, here is a little family clothing and accessory sample.
I also added a number of other solid clothing options from this season that I love (for kids, women, and men). They are just to give you an idea of what is possible, but PLEASE PLEASE do not feel like you need to go out and buy anything (hence why I have not included links). Try to mix and "match" what you already have in your closet. Start with your outfits as parents (always the hardest) so you can feel confident, and then move to the kids/coordinate from there. Their cuteness usually makes just about anything work (as long as you avoid logos). Layers can often help. Don't worry, we will also do a wardrobe consultation over the phone and via email or text message to make sure you all feel comfortable and confident for your family session. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to let me know!
